Gerry Volgenau, well-known travel writer-photographer formerly at the Detroit Free Press, celebrates the opening of his newest photography exhibit, “Travel Near and Far” at The Side Door Gallery in Dexter, Michigan. Join Gerry from 6 – 8 pm on Friday August 1 at The Side Door Gallery, 8063 Main St., Dexter, MI, for an evening of his narratives and photographs from Vietnam, Thailand, and Cuba. Gerry will have copies of his newest book, “Shipwreck Hunter: Deep, Dark, and Deadly in the Great Lakes”, for purchase and signing. This exhibit will be displayed in the gallery throughout the month of August and can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10am – 6pm and Saturday from 10 am – 4pm.
Join artist Valerie Mann for a meet and greet at The Side Door Gallery, 8063 Main St., Dexter, MI. Valerie will be presenting her latest art installation, “Fortunes”. This is the final night to view this powerful show featuring many vintage, white baby gowns embroidered with fortunes ranging from hopeful to foreboding. This is a great opportunity to talk with Valerie about this installation and her other artwork. Refreshments will be served.
