Perez has lived most of his life surrounded by the rivers, lakes, fields and forests of Lenawee County. The art he creates is a reflection of his experience outdoors with an intent to highlight patterns in nature, natural abstraction from close perspectives, and the intricate details of plants, animals and insects.
Perez earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Design from Western Michigan University. He currently holds an Engineering Technician position at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, MI. Perez is a self-taught printmaker who began with a Speedball starter kit and linoleum. He now uses Shina wood blocks and a Richeson “Baby Press” to create small editions in his home studio in Tecumseh, MI.
